Grilled Peaches

This is one of my favorite times of year (what time of year don't I love...really?).  I love peach season.  I wait for this all year, and then it's a frenzy to get in as many peaches as possible.  I put up halves of peaches in light syrup, freeze them, bake them, slice and eat them with juice dripping down my hands.  I love them!  One of my absolute favorite things to do with them is to grill them.  They are the perfect ending to a summer garden meal.

I know that grilling a peach may sound a little funky to some of you, but it is sheer joy for your taste buds.  The sweetness of the peaches and honey with the coolness of the cream and slightly sour of the raspberries is sure to excite the most dreary of all people!!!  If you are looking for an extra exciting twist on this recipe, add a few drops of honey wine vinegar over the cream.  We have a marvelous product produced here in Utah called Slide Ridge Honey Wine Vinegar.  A few drops of this on top of the cream, and you have a whole new experience of sweet and sour waiting for you...

I need my grill now...
And peaches...
And honey...

And someone to tell me to stop drooling on the keyboard...

This is a really light dessert, and so easy to make.  You can't go wrong with this little recipe up your sleeve.  I made it for friends and it was a hit and I didn't have to slave over it all day!  Quick, simple, full of flavor and life...this is what summer is all about.

GRILLED PEACHES
Backyard Farmgals
4 ripe peaches
1/2 cup honey
1 cup heavy cream, whipped
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp powdered sugar
Raspberries
Slide Ridge Honey Wine Vinegar (optional...if you use it, a few drops goes a long way)

Half, peel and pit your peaches, place them in a large bowl.  Heat the honey in a glass microwave safe bowl in the microwave for one minute, until it is just boiling and pour it over the peach halves.  Take a spoon and make sure that each peach is coated in honey.  Set aside.

In a separate bowl, whip the cream until soft peaks form.  Add the vanilla and powdered sugar and beat until just combined.  Set aside.

Heat the grill to medium high heat.  Make sure that your grill is clean.  Before putting the peaches on, take an old rag and put some olive oil or vegetable oil on it.  Wipe the grill with the oiled rag to keep the peaches from sticking (they still stick just a bit, but this really helps).  Put the peaches on the grill, cut side down, and cook on the grill for about two minutes.  Lift each peach and turn it 90º so that you get cross hatched marks on the peaches.  Grill for another minute, or two.

Remove the peaches, and plate.  Top immediately with the cream and berries.  Drizzle a few drops of honey wine vinegar, and then just die!!!!!!  You will, I promise!  It is so good, you will never be the same!
